We’re Leading Climate Action in Door County

Our Vision

We envision a resilient world with communities actively working together to sustain a stable climate.

Our Values

Through our mission-driven work, we aim to help create a resilient world in which communities actively work together to sustain a stable climate.

Science. We rely on science and scientific evidence to understand the climate crisis, to inform our climate education programs, and to guide our actions.

Justice. The impacts of climate change are not felt equally across our community, and often disproportionately affect vulnerable and marginalized communities. We support equitable solutions as we work to reduce the harms of the climate crisis.

Community. The climate crisis is a global challenge that requires all levels of society to work together toward solutions. Local communities have unique and critical roles, responsibilities, and power to effect the change we need.

Inclusivity. The climate crisis is nonpartisan. We create opportunities for everyone to participate, and welcome and value all contributions to our efforts.

Collaboration. Door County has many groups and individuals whose work intersects with ours. We seek opportunities to share, collaborate, and amplify our collective action.

Creativity. The climate crisis requires a solutions-oriented mindset and openness to new ideas. We value the creativity needed to work toward a stable and resilient climate.

Our Partners

The Climate Change Coalition of Door County is grounded in collaboration. Together with local businesses, community organizations, and dedicated volunteers, we bring people and resources together to turn ideas into action. These partnerships make our work possible—and help ensure that Door County thrives for generations to come.

Our Story

For over a decade, the Climate Change Coalition of Door County (CCCDC) has been rooted in community, curiosity, and climate action. What began in December 2012 as an informal group of concerned citizens has grown into a volunteer-driven, nonpartisan force for education and change.

We believe that local action matters. The Coalition brings together individuals, organizations, and businesses across Door County to learn, collaborate, and implement real-world solutions that reduce carbon emissions, protect our natural resources, and strengthen community resilience. From solar initiatives and tree-planting campaigns to food waste reduction and youth engagement programs, we focus on practical, hands-on projects that build a more sustainable future for generations to come.

Education remains at the heart of everything we do. Through lectures, film screenings, art exhibitions, community potlucks, and the annual Every Day is Earth Day festival, we create spaces where people can connect, share ideas, and be inspired to act. Our partnerships—with schools, municipalities, farmers, artists, and environmental organizations—reflect our belief that the climate conversation belongs to everyone.

Today, the Climate Change Coalition continues to grow thanks to hundreds of volunteers who give their time, expertise, and creativity. Together, we are cultivating awareness, inspiring action, and building hope—proving that when a community comes together, meaningful change takes root.
